I've been gone for way too long! Check out my 'About Me' page to see what I've been up to.
Here's a look at the Listener League, put together by ESPN's Eric Karabell!
It's the 8th week of the fantasy baseball season and this is the point of the season where you can really see how your team is shaping up. With that being said…never have I ever been in a 20-team league, and my team is mediocre at best right now. The craziest trades have been made and there is rarely any free agents to pick up, or there are none at all.
After a couple of trades my team looks a little different from the one I originally drafted. At first, I thought I needed more help offensively because some of my hitters are not regular starters. I made the mistake of not drafting pitchers who put themselves in a position for quality start and it's negatively impacting my ERA and WHIP.
The season is young enough to where I can get that corrected if trade opportunities arise because I can't rely on waivers, or if Tim Lincecum can revive his career (wishful thinking).
The chance to play in a league with some of fantasy baseball's best, like: Eric Karabell, Tristan H. Cockcroft, and David Schoenfield, has been fun! As you can see, they occupy 3rd, 5th, and 6th places in the standings. It's really interesting to see everyone's adds, drops and trades, and I'm surprised at how many moves some of the teams have made.
I was close to the bottom but I'm slowly making it to the middle of the pack. My co-worker and friend, Justin, is currently in 2nd place (one of us has to hold it down near the top). First place looked like a runaway just yesterday, but things change so quickly in this league and no lead is safe.
Hope you guys found this fun! I'll post more updates about the league throughout the season.
