Blogs entries have been far and few between since all those MLB Acquisition posts (sorry), but I'm trying to get back on it. The last day of the month, first day of the month, and a day before that and after at my day job is pretty tough on me.
Over the last 10 days or so, I have been trying to do mock drafts. I say "trying" because at night in Hawaii, especially on weekdays, most of the country is already sleeping. I was excited about doing mock drafts, hoping that I'd see something that would jump out at me but all of it was ho-hum. Many drafters, after several rounds set their picks on auto-pick. Even when people were actually drafting, they were always taking the players near the top. All of my mocks were snake drafts with different draft positions (first, middle, last) After about the 10th round, I always found myself in the same draft situations and a lot of my teams ended up looking the same.
For a while, I tried to keep in mind that I shouldn't "overreach" for a player, but who is to say that the draft order put in place by a site is what should be followed? Different sites and fantasy experts have their own rankings and for good reason. It is up to you to draft accordingly.
When it comes time to draft your "real" team, will it go as portrayed by your mock drafts? Probably not. Last season, I was in a draft where someone drafted Ben Zobrist and Salvador Perez in the first two round. There is always some kind of wild card in drafts so be ready for that. I doubt I'll be doing anymore mocks unless it's just for shits and giggles.

This lineup is definitely heavy on the hitters and I could use one more starter and one less first baseman.
How is everyone's mock drafts going? Hopefully, better than mine =) Time to start drafting the real teams. Eric Karabell spoke of a podcast Listener League and I'm really excited for that!! I'm excited for baseball in general. If only I could play on FanDuel….
